Creed was founded in 1760 in London by James Henry Creed as a tailoring house that also created custom fragrances for royalty and aristocrats. Over time, the brand became known for its luxurious, hand-crafted perfumes and relocated to Paris in 1854 at the request of Empress Eugénie of France. Passed down through generations of the Creed family, the house gained a reputation for exclusivity, often producing bespoke scents for elite clients, including politicians, celebrities, and royals.
